Hello. My name is Barbara and I am a Person-Centred counsellor based in Shrewsbury (SY1) and Church Stretton (SY6).  I offer a safe and confidential space where you can discuss whatever you may be struggling with, in an environment where you will not be judged. You can choose to do this on the face to face or via Zoom / telephone.

Whatever the catalyst for you to consider counselling, you perhaps want support in moving forward from a difficult, potentially traumatic, experience which has occurred in your past.  You may be dealing with something in the present, for example relationship issues, a stressful working environment, a bereavement. Whatever brings you to counselling I will listen to you, truly hear what you are saying, and sometimes I may also hear what you are not saying.

I find that the world we live in can be high pressured and fast paced, not allowing us time to reflect and process our experiences.  Counselling allows you that time, and my experience has shown this to be hugely beneficial to the vast majority of clients I have been fortunate to sit with.

When considering counselling, clients can often feel nervous and unsure, particularly if this will be their first experience of counselling.  Know that you are not alone. I offer an introductory meeting at a reduced rate that will give you an idea of how we can work together and what to expect from future sessions. It can give you an understanding of how your concerns may be addressed through counselling and you may feel more confident in your decision to start therapy.

I work with adults and couples of all ages, believing that our journey through life is an ongoing opportunity for personal fulfilment. Disregarding age, 20s or 40s or 70s (and I have worked with each of them) I recognise the individual’s ability to reflect and to change through personal development. My role is to empower and facilitate your development, to be by your side. I am able to help with a wide range of issues and have particular experience of working with bereavement and loss, including suicide.

I aim to answer all emails or phone messages within 24 hours, so please check your junk mailbox for replies.
